a birthday card for my bro-in-law ..... simple, sedate and very 'guy-ish'.... until you open the card ......

and suddenly that 'back-side' pops out at you, all wobbly and shaking - courtesy of the action wobble attached to it! Hope he gets a chuckle from this!

The stamps (both the front and back images, and the 'bummer' sentiment) are from Art Impressions - Shake Your Booty - Bummer Set.

The design for the front of the card was taken from this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #44.

my very first tri-fold card

cottage tri-fold by eatzycath

I have just learned the technique to stamping a tri-fold card (a card with two flaps on the right and left) - i.e. having a series of co-ordinating stamped images on the centre portion, and on the overlapping right and left flaps. For proper alignment of the three images, the best method requires the use of a stamp positioner, and how easy the task becomes! Love the possibilities that this may throw up in the days to come!

This tri-fold card was stamped using the 'cottage' series of stamps in Art Impressions "Tryfold" range - the scenes are beautiful, especially for water-coloring.

Sunday Verse - Matthew 19:26

Matthew 19:26 by eatzycath
Matthew 19:26, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

I would dearly love to share this verse from the Bible with all of you - Matthew 19:26 '....With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.' There are many days when things seem so out of control and situations appear impossible - yet these are the precious days when we turn to our Lord, the almighty creator of all things, and remind ourselves that all is under His control!

The design of this card was inspired by the following Mojo Monday's sketch challenge - Mojo Monday 300 Challenge.

The circle element was replaced with a flower lei die-cut - from Memory Box's Lovely Lei - embossed with copper embossing powder.
The centre square is also a die-cut from QuicKutz' Nesting Square Doilies set.

Have a blessed week ahead!

celebrate!

celebrate! by eatzycath
celebrate!, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

A card made for my hubby's cousin Anthony who recently celebrated his 70th birthday - a cheery card that reflects his enjoyment of life and its epicurious pleasures!

I still used blue for this 'guy' card but now in smaller swatches, with the bulk of the background in purple patterned paper. I am trying to move away from standard blue and grey colors for 'guy' cards - surely they too need some bright colors to light up their life!

The stamps are from Art Impressions - the Cafe stamp and Monique, the dancing waitress stamp. The centrepiece on which the Cafe was stamped is a die-cut from Memory Box (the Debutante frame) and it is further edged with a check-print die-cut also from MemoryBox (the Under the Sea frame). Coloring was done using Caran D'ache Neocolor II water-soluble color wax pastels.
