HELLO on newsprint

Sometimes a simple card just makes the best impact ...

hello on newsprint

- the red flower (which is a Hero Arts silhouette stamp from the Sweet Threads Thank You stamp set) was first stamped on white card
- then a mask of the flower was stamped and cut, and with mask in place, I then proceeded to stamp the background (using Hero Arts - Newspaper Background stamp) in sepia ink
- final touches include affixing the 'hello' die-cut from Paper Smooches - Quote Tag (which has been embossed in copper powder) and some rhinestones on the flower centre and across the card
- with the edges of the white card distressed and coloured with distress ink, it was all ready to go onto the brown card base

and it was great to know that the card was noticed in the Hero Arts Flickr group, and was tweeted by myheroarts .... wheeeeee!

have faith

Card was made for this week's Paper Smooches SPARKS - September 2-8 Trend Watch challenge
inspired by this photo

The stamps of the vases, flower, and leaves came from Paper Smooches "Crystal Clear" stamp set, whilst the 'have faith' sentiment came from the Paper Smooches "Spiritual Sampler" stamp set.

The vases have been embossed using Zing! Metallic Finish embossing powders in purple, pewter and blue colors - creating a lovely texture for this clean single layer card.

a simple thank-you card based on the sketch for this week's
* the outline of the flower petals were embossed in white, and the petals were then colored with Derwent Inktense water color pencils - love the brilliant effect of ink pigments on kraft-stock paper
* the stem and leaves were embossed in different shades of green embossing powder
* both the flower and stem/leaves stamps are from Penny Black's Round and Round stamp set
* the banner (from Paper Smooches - Streamers stamp set) was stamped and white embossed
* the sentiment (from Paper Smooches - Chit Chat stamp set) was stamped and yellow embossed
