joyful spirit

joyful spirit

against the busy backdrop of reds, yellow and turquoise on the centre panel of this card, I just wanted a simple sentiment to stand out as the highlight of the card

a polka-dotted red and yellow big brad holds the red ribbon and tag in place at the top left hand corner of the card - and this helps to balance against the scalloped circles at the bottom right hand corner

the sketch from The Paper Players Challenge #201 was perfect to show off that beautiful patterned card-stock

the 'joyful spirit' sentiment stamp comes from Paper Smooches - Spiritual Sampler stamp set

happy father's day in blue and red

blue red Father's Day
made a Father's Day card for a friend, with the centrepiece of the card being a wonderful black & white photo of the family mounted onto a scalloped square die-cut in white card stock (from Spellbinders Nestabilities - Lacy Squares range)

the card design was based on Seize the Sketch Challenge #22 (sketch by Lori Tecler), whilst the colour combination of red, blue and white was inspired by The Paper Players - Colour Challenge #199

the card base is white, on top of which is blue card stock mounted onto red card stock  - on the blue card stock, I had stamped in VersaMark using Impression Obsession's Cover-a-Card - Distressed Lines stamp, and then heat-embossed the same with white and glitter powders ... I loved the effect created (this would actually be a great Christmas card design!)
card was decorated with Hero Arts - Spring Branch die-cuts in red and white card stock (with embossed glitter), and finished off with a red bow and ribbon strip

happy birthday in red, yellow and green

happy birthday in red, yellow and green
card design was based on CAS(E) this Sketch #75 (which again, I was too late for submission ... this is getting to be a bad habit!) and inspired by the lovely colours scheme in the Paper Players Color Challenge #195 (which submission I made just in time)

*the card base - yellow cardstock which was stamped with Impression Obsession Cover-a-Card - Tapestry 2 stamp in watermark ink, clear-embossed with heat, and then sponged lightly over with Distress Inks - Barn Door red and Mowed Lawn green
*the corner tag - green cardstock embossed with a flourish design with the raised portions lightly sponged with Versacolor White ink, and then mounted on red card stock
*the embellishment - flower die-cut from Hero Arts - Chrysanthemum Fancy Die on coral red card stock, and heat embossed with embossing glitter, and finished off with a Hero Arts - Go Out and Play stamp - using only the Happy Birthday sentiment, again lightly sponged over with the same Distress Inks colours

Night Prayer

a night prayer
Love the wonderful reassuring words of this sentiment - and it goes so well with the digital image 'Em Praying' from Mo's Digital Pencil - another great digital image from Mo Manning!

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

multi-colored friend for life

multicoloured friend for life
a very simple card inspired by The Paper Players Challenge #192 - Washi-tastic CAS Challenge (a clean and simple design using washi tape)

and what a perfect way to use these lovely thin strips of multicoloured washi tape in my stash!

The sentiment is from Penny Black's Edge to Edge clear stamp set - stamped and heat-embossed in white on kraft-stock and mounted using foam tape. With a few simple embellishments (multicoloured pearl dots and a green flower) - the card is ready to go!

warm thoughts

warm thoughts by eatzycath
warm thoughts, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

a quick and simple card made based on:
1. Retro Sketches #101 sketch design

2. Paper Players Color Challenge #182 - using the colors of midnight muse, crisp cantaloupe and gold

The card base is blue card stock, over which I layered the light orange 'cantaloupe' polka-dotted pattern paper with the edges die-cut using Paper Smooches Borders 1 die cut.

The sentiment is stamped on blue card stock using Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler stamp set - and embossed in gold - mounted on orange card stock.

Some lace, ribbon and co-ordinating buttons in blue and orange finish the look for this card.

heart melt bunny

Valentine's Day this year also happens to fall on the 15th day of the Chinese Lunar New Year (or Chap Goh Meh) - the last day of the lunar new year celebrations - which means that the restaurants in Singapore will be doing a roaring business whether catering to loving couples or to families get-togethers!

This Valentine's Day card is a one-layer card made from kraft-card - in line with this week's

The Paper Players #179: One Layer Valentine

The stamps are from Paper Smooches - the goofy-looking bunny from the "A Little Lovin" stamp set whilst the sentiment and heart stamps come from the "Warm Hearts" stamp set. All were stamped with VersaMark ink and heat-embossed with white, pink and red embossing powders. The edges of the card were also heat-embossed using Stampendous - Aged Rose Embossing Enamel.

A New Year

Thank you by eatzycath
Thank you, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

The last three months have been a whirlwind of chaos, first dealing with the renovations at my new apartment, then followed by the horrendous task of packing and unpacking as we moved to our new place! Finally with the last of the boxes unpacked ... I can breathe a huge sign of relief ... and reward myself with some creative R&R as I bunker down in my new craft room .... YAYYYYYY and super hooray!

Mojo Monday #328's latest sketch this week is a wonderfully simple design that is so versatile and easy that I made two cards quickly ... just to 'kickstart' some of the creative 'mojo juice'.

The colours for the first card was inspired the very rich hues of blue and bright red in Runway Inspired Challenge RIC#51

For the second card, I looked towards The Paper Players Color Challenge #178 and loved the cheerful colour options!

The background stamp of the calendar week is from Hero Arts - My Week whilst the sentiment stamp in the centre is from Penny Black - Your Days.

today is a gift!

merry kissmoose

merry kissmoose by eatzycath
merry kissmoose, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

card challenges are great for taking us out of our comfort zones ... a great example being this card which combined two colors that I personally would never have considered as being compatible, a rich berry color with a light aqua shade.

Color choice was based on this week's The Paper Players Color Challenge #162

Card design was based on the sketch challenge in this week's Paper Smooches SPARKS Sept 9-15 Designer Drafts Challenge.

Stamped image of the cute little moose together with the 'merry kissmoose' sentiment come from Paper Smooches - Chubby Chum Pals stamp set, whilst the ribbon banner is from Paper Smooches - Streamers stamp set.

And isn't it great that it's FRIDAY with the weekend to look forward to!
