celebrate - flowers in vases

celebrate
a simple card based on the sketch for this week's retro-sketches #112 (which I flipped horizontally)

stamp of flowers in vases comes from Stampendous - Thinking Bouquet stamp set, whilst the sentiment comes from Paper Smooches - Pretty Phrases stamp set.

Post Note (10 May 2014): I was pleasantly surprised that this simple card was selected as the Rockstar for retrosketches #112 - so very encouraging, thank you!

a simple 'thanks so much'

Thanks so much - closeup

loved how easy this card came together, starting of course with the great sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #132 (and once again, I have missed the submission timeline... sigh!)
But never mind, I still love the simplicity of this card with its pretty patterned paper - and this is the first time I tried my hand at heat embossing on vellum - the flowers were stamped on vellum, very gently heat-embossed with white embossing powder and sponged with distress inks in blue and red
Thanks so much

Flower stamps are from Hero Arts - Three Dotted Flowers stamp set

grateful vintage

When the cardmaking itch catches up, one can only scratch it.... and that's what I've been doing for the last week or so - and since my night classes haven't started yet, I might as well get in some private crafting time before things get busy again.

This card was made this afternoon for submission to A Blog Named Hero: Challenge #26 - objective: incorporate a tag into one's card or project OR be inspired by the dog tags included in the inspirational challenge graphic below.

* the tag was stamped using IO - Impression Obsession (Alesa Baker Designs) - Graph Tag - a truly beautiful vintage design with a lovely flourish in the corner - unfortunately, you can't see it on the card as it is partially hidden by the flowers
* the 'truly grateful' sentiment comes from Hero Arts - Truly Grateful stamp set
* the 'truly grateful' sentiment was fussy-cut around the edges and mounted with foam tape onto the tag which was then affixed onto a piece of gauze bandage, which had been inked with Ranger Distress ink (Vintage Photo) to create that slightly sepia tone, and affixed with dimensional glue onto the patterned paper
* final touch - added some paper flowers with buttons and some rough twine

pink and yellow

A birthday card made using Hero Arts stamps - stamping first with the Large and Small Solid Flowers stamps and then overlaying the stamped images using the Large and Small Open Flowers stamps to create the offsetting of the edges.

Edges were embossed with different colored glitter embossing powders, and finally, the card was finished off with a ribbon and some rhinestones affixed to the center of the flowers. The sentiment stamp comes from Stampendous - Birthday Assortment collection.

Love these flower stamps - big and so easy to use to create background patterns - and the best part, it doesn't matter a bit if the stamped edges don't line up!

have a wonderful day

A card made for my mum-in-law for her recent birthday (2013) - bright and sunny just like her warm disposition, I am lucky to have her as my mum-in-law!
Card was made using a Hero Arts flower stamp - stamped on white card with VersaMark, embossed with Stampendous Embossing Powder (Detail White), and colored using Tim Holtz Distress Inks. Cut out the flower and also slice off about a one-third portion from the top. Thereafter, affix to white card-stock with mounting tape, keeping the sliced edge aligned with the top black line of the rectangle.
