love in pink

love in pink
a friend's daughter is getting married this weekend, and I love to make wedding cards - with happy endorphins gushing around my system as I picture the couple making this wonderful commitment of a lifetime.......

card's design and colour combination was inspired by this week's retrosketches challenge #116 and the colour throw down challenge #294 colours (and such delicious colours they are)

the 'Love' sentiment was die-cut using Penny Black's Love & Joy creative die, and inlaid into the beige patterned circle (die-cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities - Beaded Circles)
which was mounted onto the scalloped square (using the die-cut from Lifestyle Crafts - Nesting Scallop Squares)

What is great with inlaid die-cutting is that one always ends up with another set of die-cuts for a second card...this card was made using the reverse set of the hearts die cuts used in my earlier post.

the card design was inspired by this week's retrosketches #114
the bible verse fro 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 is a stamp from Penny Black - Love Chapter stamp set, whilst the little birdie on a birdcage is a stamp from Penny Black - Tree-mendous  stamp set

My first attempt at inlaid die-cutting, and I am so totally in love with this new technique... and kicking myself for not discovering this earlier! For more information on this technique - tune in to Jennifer Mcquire's video on Die-Cut Inlay, and a big thank you to Jennifer for such a clear video!

card design was based on this week's Freshly Made Sketches #135, using the red and white colour monochromatic scheme from ColourMe #19 (which challenge  I was unfortunately too late for submission)
a close-up of the added layers to the heart in the centre to give it more dimension - the sentiment and edges were embossed in gold

'love' stamp is from Paper Smooches - Simply Said stamp set and the heart die-cuts are from QuicKutz - Nesting Scallop Hearts Dies

with valentine's day just round the corner, this is a great time to create cards with the 'love' theme.... and a great time to send these 'reminders' to loved ones!

- the heart was die-cut using Hero Arts' Fancy Dies - Renaissance Heart
- the banner was stamped using Paper Smooches - Streamers stamp set, and embossed in silver powder
- the word 'Love' was die-cut using Penny Black's Creative Dies - Love & Joy

this card was based on this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #63

and using the colours set out in ColourQ Challenge #227

cute but not too mushy - that's how I like my Valentine's Day cards - and this card was such a joy to create and colour

* the farmer, cow and sentiment stamps come from Paper Smooches - Green Acres stamp set, water-coloured, fussy-cut and mounted with foam tape
* the frame design is from an embossing folder - Cuttlebug - after embossing, the edges were inked using Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick colour)

perfect for the Paper Smooches Jan 19-25 Anything Goes (wk3) Challenge

PS NOTE (Jan 27): yayy, so very thrilled to have this card chosen as a Featured Player in Paper Smooches Challenge

LOVE - for a young couple

Love-marriage by eatzycath
Love-marriage, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

a wedding card made for a young couple, the groom being the son of a friend
in Singapore, red is an auspicious color and in keeping with tradition, the background of this card and the fussy-cut hearts are red in color
but I kept the stamped image of the bridal couple (from Stampendous - Happy Couple wood-stamp) in white with gold embossed edges, to align with the gold-embossed 'LOVE' sentiment (from Hero Arts) created on the white card-stock

Love-marriage on the inside

a further 'marriage' sentiment (from Impression Obsession - A Good Marriage wood-stamp) was stamped on the inside of the card
and a pocket was created also on the inside of the card for the 'ang-pow' to be given to the couple - 'ang-pow' being a red packet containing a cash gift for the couple

this card is submitted for this week's Freshly Made Sketches #99 (Sketch by Rita)

a simple card which took less than 15 mins to make - am definitely loving this clean and simple approach with minimal layers and embellishments

Card design is inspired by the following sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch #34

the making of this card:
* stamped the oblong love sentiment (from Penny Black's Love Chapter stamp set) onto white card using Kaleidacolor (Spectrum range)
* die-cut the same using KCK Kutz die-cuts
* with die-cut still in place, the edges were colored with Pebbles Inc Chalks (Basic Brights range)
* stamped the longer edge-to-edge love sentiment (also from the the same Penny Black Love Chapter stamp set) towards the bottom half of the card
* affixed the die-cut sentiment with mounted tape
* affixed a die-cut flourish (colored in purple ink) with little red hearts as the final touch

this card was entered for the following challenges
# Penny Black & More - June Challenge - theme: CAS (Clean and Simple)

i love roo froggie

Another card made with Paper Smooches stamps, which I have submitted for the Paper Smooches June 17-23 Cool Shades Challenge - to use a beautiful color palette with colors from "nature".

The happy froggie, the little heart and crown and the 'i love roo' sentiment stamps come from Paper Smooches "A Little Lovin" collection, whilst the cute cloud stamp comes from Paper Smooches "Spiffy Scooters" collection. The little frog is attached to the card using an Action Wobbles, which gives a nice bouncy effect when tapped at the side. Finished off with a bit of Ice Stickles (glitter glue) on the yellow hearts and some Liquid Pearl dabs on little froggie's spots.

The card is cute enough to send your love to your loved ones of all ages!
