a 1st birthday

1st Birthday

An easel card made for a little one who will be celebrating his first birthday - the yellow, green and purple colours were inspired by Paper Smooches SPARKS: May 11-17 Picture Perfect Challenge

The numeric "1" was highlighted with the same green and purple colours in line with the embossed inked background, and 'glittered' up with glitter glue for added impact.
I also added a little picture window frame where the 'smooches' tag is currently placed, so that a mini-polaroid photo of the 1-year birthday boy can be inserted for memory-sake.

The stamps and die-cuts (frame and banner) are from Paper Smooches - Chubby Chums, Sentiment Sampler, Streamers and Duo Die 1 range.

The background of the front cover of the card was embossed using Cuttlebug's embossing folder.

Post Note (19 May 2014): so thrilled that this card was selected as one of the Featured Players' cards for the PS SPARKS challenge!

congratulatory splatters

a polka-dotted themed card ..... with design inspired by this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #35

* the white card-stock was stamped with the little paint splatter stamp from Hero Arts - Brush Strokes stamp set, in different colors of blue, red, yellow, purple and grey
* after stamping, the card was embossed with a polka-dotted embossing folder
* different lengths of washi tape in corresponding colors were affixed to the left side of the card
* the scalloped oblong circles were die-cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities die-cuts in red cardstock and with a smaller piece in polka-dotted patterned paper, and then affixed to left side of the card with part of it folded behind the white cardstock
* the banner stamp and 'congratulations' sentiment stamp come from Paper Smooches Streamers and Sentiment Sampler stamp sets - I trimmed off the left side of the banner and chalk-colored the edges of the banner

you're just my type

a more masculine card made for that special guy .....
first, I decided to use the typewriter stamp together with the "you're just my type" sentiment stamp from the Lawn Fawn "Just My Type" collection...
and to further highlight the theme, I added on other elements involving alphabet types and words in the card by
(i) adding the embossed background using the Typeset embossing folder from Cuttlebug; and
(ii) die-cutting the circle from patterned paper with columns of words using the Spellbinders Nestabilities - Lacey Circles.
blue was the safe natural choice of color for a guy card.... hmmm.... might need to be more adventurous in color choice the next time I do another guy card
this card is going in for the Die-Cut Divas - Guys and Boys! June Challenge

Let your Light Shine

Let your Light Shine by eatzycath
Let your Light Shine, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

I do love embossing folders - touching a card with lots of texture is a great joy... must be some kind of positive tactile stimuli (*smile*) - made using a Cuttlebug embossing folder, which name escapes me - looks like it's time for me to start labelling my Cuttlebug folders.... what a chore, maybe tomorrow or maybe next week?

The sentiment is a stamp from IO - Impression Obsession.

This was made for someone who had recently accepted Christ - what joy there must be in heaven as the angels rejoice and blow their trumpets! My prayer that she will continue to walk in God's grace and be a wonderful testimony for all in her life.
