happy father's day in blue and red

blue red Father's Day
made a Father's Day card for a friend, with the centrepiece of the card being a wonderful black & white photo of the family mounted onto a scalloped square die-cut in white card stock (from Spellbinders Nestabilities - Lacy Squares range)

the card design was based on Seize the Sketch Challenge #22 (sketch by Lori Tecler), whilst the colour combination of red, blue and white was inspired by The Paper Players - Colour Challenge #199

the card base is white, on top of which is blue card stock mounted onto red card stock  - on the blue card stock, I had stamped in VersaMark using Impression Obsession's Cover-a-Card - Distressed Lines stamp, and then heat-embossed the same with white and glitter powders ... I loved the effect created (this would actually be a great Christmas card design!)
card was decorated with Hero Arts - Spring Branch die-cuts in red and white card stock (with embossed glitter), and finished off with a red bow and ribbon strip

be of good courage

be of good courage
card was made for a good friend's young son to encourage him in his studies and at school .... and I wanted to share this encouraging verse from Joshua 1:9,  a verse that has brought me much comfort and strength when faced with challenges that seemed unsurmountable ... praise the Lord for His wonderful Word!

card design was based on this week's Mojo Monday #348
but the circle was replaced with the two cute crocodiles, courtesy of stamps from Paper Smooches - Zoo Crew collection and using the Zoo 2 dies
the verse (from King James Version) was printed using different fonts and in different colours onto a white card and thereafter cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities - Adorning Squares

love in pink

love in pink
a friend's daughter is getting married this weekend, and I love to make wedding cards - with happy endorphins gushing around my system as I picture the couple making this wonderful commitment of a lifetime.......

card's design and colour combination was inspired by this week's retrosketches challenge #116 and the colour throw down challenge #294 colours (and such delicious colours they are)

the 'Love' sentiment was die-cut using Penny Black's Love & Joy creative die, and inlaid into the beige patterned circle (die-cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities - Beaded Circles)
which was mounted onto the scalloped square (using the die-cut from Lifestyle Crafts - Nesting Scallop Squares)

More Altered Post-It-Noteholders!

Post-It-Noteholder: Be of Good Cheer

3M has made a Post-It-Note addict out of me with their super attractive colours! I was itching to make more of the noteholders using the acrylic stands mentioned in my previous post - this time using the bright yellow and cool blue colours of the post-it-notes.

First in YELLOW (with contrasting reds)......

Post-It-Noteholder: Be of Good Cheer

And then in BLUE!

Post-It-Noteholder:
The Bible verses are from Stampendous - Hope Verses clear stamp set, whilst the die-cuts for the frames come from Spellbinders Shapeabilities (Fancy Tags Two) and Nestabilities Decorative Elements(Beaded Circles) range.

together we can do so much

together by eatzycath
together, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

I love how the sentiment in this card worked so well together with the vertical line of cute little mice, and this is thanks to the Fusion Card Challenge #13 design sketches, which have been combined in this card:

* after stamping the vertical line of mice, I placed the die-cut near the top portion of the vertical line, and die-cut the rectangle around the top mice and the third mice
* sentiment was stamped on the blue patterned paper and cut into a shape of a banner
* I then fussy-cut around the second mice on the left and right edges at width just enough for the banner to slide through
* a second larger rectangle was then die-cut in the red patterned paper
* after coloring the image in water-color, the rest of the mice were fussy-cut, and the whole thing put together, with the help of dimensional dots at the right places

The mice stamp is from Penny Black - Everest Next, whilst the sentiment comes form IO-impression obsession - Fabulous Friend clear stamp set.

Card was also submitted for Penny Black and More's July Challenge - "Dies and Punches" theme.

LIVE colorfully, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

card was actually made for CAS-ual Fridays CFC #109 challenge (theme: Polka Dots)

but I was too late in submission.... but still I had fun using polka dots throughout the card ...
*from the bottom base patterned paper
*down to the label die-cut in dotted patterned paper (die-cut is from Spellbinders Nestabilities - Labels Sixteen range)
*and finally coloring in the dots in the "LIVE colorfully" sentiment from Hero Arts - Glow Girl stamp set

Dare to be Remarkable.... roar!!

A simple card with a 'roaring' message to encourage a young one ..... 'grrr....rrr..."

The design was inspired by this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #36 challenge.

This was a really fun card to make, especially with the coloring of the lion image, a wood-mounted stamp from Penny Black - His Majesty.

* The center banner is actually light yellow vellum - the texture was added by passing the banner through an embossing folder.
* The sentiment is a stamp from Impression Obsession - Follow Your Heart stamp set - stamped on a die-cut label from Spellbinders Nestabilities - A2 Distressed Edges set.
* a couple of zig-zagged cut patterned paper at the bottom of the white label and some orange pearls - and the card is done!

Thinking of You

Thinking of You by eatzycath
Thinking of You, a photo by eatzycath on Flickr.

Another card made for the 1-layer card challenge at the Hero Arts flickr group - CAS cards are really quite addictive as we grapple with the challenge of not adding layers to a card!

* first, I used a Labels Sixteen die-cut from Spellbinders Nestabilities to cut out the label from plain white paper
* using the negative part of the white paper placed over the white cardstock, I then colored the inner unmasked portion with dye ink of different colors
* the 'thinking of you' sentiment comes from Hero Arts - Made with Love stamp set - this was stamped in red ink in the center of the colored space and clear-embossed
* with negative mask removed, I then placed the die back onto card in a slightly offset position and outlined the die in black ink, once with a thicker nib and then a second time in a different offset position with a thinner nib
* I then replaced the label mask and stamped in black using the whirly flower stamp from Hero Arts-Basic Grey Sweet Threads Thank You clear stamp collection at opposite corners of the label
* with label mask still in place, the card was then misted using Glimmer Mist
* dabs of glitter glue were then added to the petals of the swirly flower design
