i like the way you roll .... on clouds

i like the way you roll

with a bit of masking work and some distress inks - the sky background was easily created - for my white and blue clouds and yellow sun to sit on

* the die-cuts are from Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Journaling Card set and Spring Showers set
* the sentiment is from Lawn Fawn's Let's Roll sushi stamp set, but I think it goes so well with the 'rolling' clouds ...

thanks on a net

thanks on a net

this card's design was based on this week's retrosketches #111

and the choice of colours were taken from colorQ challenge #238

* the card's base was kraft card, sprinkled over with Stampendous Frantage aged ivory embossing enamel and heat-embossed (I love the specks of gold sprinkled across the card)
* instead of using another patterned paper for the outermost square, I decided to go with a square of straw netting (which was inspired by the straw hat in the colorQ picture) layered over the purple distressed edged square
* 'thanks' sentiment is a die-cut on yellow glitter paper - die-cut is from Paper Smooches - Quote Tag dies.

I particularly like how the tiny flowers appear as if they are caught among the netting!

hello, little kitty

hello, kitty

card was created using the sketch design in Seize the Sketch #17 from Jen Mitchell

the cute little kitty comes from Paper Smooches - Nine Lives clear stamp set, which comes with its own matching die-cuts - convenience personified! The tag with the 'hello' sentiment is also a die-cut from Paper Smooches - Quote Tag set - love the little window in the centre of the tag which is great for placing background paper and photos as well

Card is also going in for this week's April 6-12 "Anything Goes" Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge

POST NOTE (14 Apr): and though I didn't win the PS SPARKS challenge, it was great to be selected as one of the Featured Players .... yayy!

live, laugh, love

I would not normally use black and neon yellow together as the contrast between these colors are so stark.... so it was truly a challenge to combine black, white and neon yellow on a card, as set by The Play Date Cafe for this week's challenge "It's a {splash} of Neon".

* decided to go with a main graphic design using a die-cut in black (die from Cheery Lynn's Princess' Garden Window Frame)
* after sticking to the white card base, I frame the outer square with neon yellow washi tape, followed by another frame in black polka-dotted ribbon
* affixed the butterfly and sentiment with mounted foam tape
* butterfly is actually a stamp from Hero Arts/Basic Grey - Butterflies and Print stamp set - I actually stamped using Hero Arts Neon Yellow inkpad, and then I outlined the shape of the butterfly by hand in black ink to recreate the hand-drawn look

All things grow with LOVE

A second card made for this week's Paper Smooches July 8-14 Designer Drafts challenge, based on the card sketch below.

A very simple card to make,
* die-cut the circle on white card - I used the QuicKutz Nesting Floral Doilies set
* on the bottom half of the circle die-cut, I used a handmade stencil by cutting freehand a rolling form edge, and then colored in layers using chalk in dark brown and green (to represent the mounds of earth)
* using the Paper Smooches Green Thumb 1 die, I die-cut the watering can on green polka-dotted patterned paper, and then stamped the watering can from the Green Thumb stamp set
* the sentiment "All things grow with Love" from Impression Obsession was stamped in sepia ink
* the watering can was then affixed with mounting tape
* the little hearts were stamped in orange ink, and then dabbed with glitter glue
* final touch - a round brad with apple motive was added on top of the alphabet "O" in the word "LOVE"
* circle was then affixed to the green cardstock base using mounting tape

congratulatory splatters

a polka-dotted themed card ..... with design inspired by this week's CAS(E) this Sketch #35

* the white card-stock was stamped with the little paint splatter stamp from Hero Arts - Brush Strokes stamp set, in different colors of blue, red, yellow, purple and grey
* after stamping, the card was embossed with a polka-dotted embossing folder
* different lengths of washi tape in corresponding colors were affixed to the left side of the card
* the scalloped oblong circles were die-cut using Spellbinders Nestabilities die-cuts in red cardstock and with a smaller piece in polka-dotted patterned paper, and then affixed to left side of the card with part of it folded behind the white cardstock
* the banner stamp and 'congratulations' sentiment stamp come from Paper Smooches Streamers and Sentiment Sampler stamp sets - I trimmed off the left side of the banner and chalk-colored the edges of the banner

you color my life in zesty orange and green

This is the 2nd card which I am entering for this week's Paper Smooches - Picture Perfect Challenge, the ink splotches and 'you add color to my life' sentiment were inspired by the picture below.

And it so happens that Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger challenge this week is - Scene in Tangerine (look at picture below) - with colors in yellow, orange and green - which accounts for the color choice for my card - cheerful, bright and bound to bring on a smile!

To make the card:
* the background was stamped with Hero Arts Chevron cling stamp, using Kaleidacolor's rainbow dye inkpad (Melon Melody) - I love how the colors are combined so well together and provide that smooth transition from one color to the next
* the notebook page was die-cut from white cardstock using Paper Smooches - Notebook Bracket die-cut
* the random ink splotches and sentiment comes also from Paper Smooches - I Heart Art stamp set
* the notebook page was then colored lightly using Pebbles Inc - chalks and edged-colored too for definition
* finally, the same was affixed to the chevron stamped paper at the right hand bottom corner with mounting tape, and the whole thing was then affixed with double-sided tape to the lime green cardstock

And finally, I just found out that Simon Says Stamp Challenge for this week is 'Anything Goes' - and so I'm submitting this card along to play as well.
